See the World Through the Eyes of International Artist Carlos Luna

Visit the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum for its special exhibition featuring Carlos Luna, a contemporary Cuban-American painter, sculptor, printmaker, and ceramicist. Born and raised in a small rural town in the province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Carlos Luna painted from childhood and contributed to one of Cuba’s most innovative and vigorous movements “Art of the 80s,” which put Cuba back on the map of the international art world.

Cleverly combining aspects of Cuban, Mexican and American cultures, Luna creates a new language in his work illustrating universal themes such as passion, humor, conflict and sensuality. The lush and rich imagery of Luna’s work encompass a unique mystical quality that draws the viewer into a dream-like world alive with continuous movement, vibrant color, and intense emotion.

This free exhibition will feature over 50 works of this prolific artist, that include mixed media on wood, large-scale tapestries, and works on paper.
